If you’re looking into buying a new Canon lens, I have some bad news. For the second time in five months, Canon has increased the prices of its EF and RF-mount lenses. Most of them have seen a $100 or $200 price increase, but it goes up to $1,000.

Here is the list of lenses that got more expensive:

Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM ($499) – an $80 increaseCanon RF 800mm F11 DO IS STM ($999) – a $100 increaseCanon RF 600mm F11 IS STM ($799) – a $100 increaseCanon RF 100-500mm F4-7.1L IS USM ($2899) – a $100 increaseCanon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM ($1299) – a $200 increaseCanon RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM ($1799) – a $200 increaseCanon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM ($1299) – a $200 increaseCanon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM ($1299) – a $200 increaseCanon EF 35mm f/1.4L II ($1999) – a $200 increaseCanon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM ($1499) – a $200 increaseCanon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM 1.4x ($11,999) – a $1,000 increase

As I mentioned, this is the second time in a pretty short period of time that Canon has increased the prices of its lenses. It first happened in September 2021, when the company allegedly did it due to the pandemic. It’s possible that the pandemic-induced chip shortage is the reason now too. I looked for the official announcement, but it was nowhere to be found. So, it looks like Canon once again did it “behind the scenes.” [via Photo Rumors]
