NASA’s Perseverance rover made a successful landing on Mars on 18 February, and new photos keep coming in. After the first-ever photo and its color version, you can now watch the rover’s descent and the touchdown in the dramatic video.
The footage you see above was captured by several cameras on the rover. In the video description, NASA explains what it is that we see in it:
As for the audio, it comes from the mission control call-outs during entry, descent, and landing stages. If you watched the live stream from the control room, it will sound familiar. After the news has been buzzing with perseverance landing for days, I must admit that I thought “Okay, it’s not interesting anymore.” But it is. When I watched the video, I felt emotional in a way I can’t explain. I mean, I was watching an actual landing on Mars, that’s pretty epic!
