100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary is one of four lenses Sigma announced earlier this year.  After the pricey 135mm F/1.8 Art lens, this is the second one from the series released for preorders. The price is now officially announced, and this time, the surprise is rather positive. The 100-400mm f/5-6.3 from Sigma is available for $799, which sounds like a reasonable price for a zoom lens of this range. For comparison, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM  costs $1,299. Nikon doesn’t have the zoom lens of the same range, but their 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens costs near $1,400. Unlike the prime 135mm F/1.8 Art lens, which surprised is with its high price, the 100-400mm is certainly more affordable. Here are some of the specs: Just like the rest of Sigma’s lenses, the 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary is available for Nikon, Canon and Sigma mounts natively. You can also use it on Sony cameras with a Sigma MC-11 Sony E-mount converter. If you’d like to preorder this lens, you can do it now, and the shipping is expected to begin at the end of May 2017.
