German lens manufacturer Voigtländer has launched Nokton 21mm f/1.4 Aspherical lens for Sony E-mount. Since it’s a manual focus and de-clickable, this fast and wide prime lens can be a good choice for both photographers and filmmakers.

The Nokton 21mm f/1.4 is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Of course, it can also be used with APS-C models, where it will produce a 31.5mm equivalent focal length. It’s built from 13 elements in 11, with two aspherical elements at the front and the rear. Voigtländer promises that the build of this lens should help to minimize color fringing and chromatic aberrations and at the same time provide accurate color rendering and great sharpness.

As I mentioned, the lens is manual focus, and the minimum focusing distance is 9.8″. It has a 12-blade diaphragm, which should provide you with pleasant bokeh. The lens also has a de-clicked aperture ring, which is certainly helpful when shooting video. Additionally, the aperture ring can also be configured to utilize traditional 1/3-stop clicks. Take a look at the full specs: Voigtländer Nokton 21mm f/1.4 is available for preorders at the price of $1,099, and it’s expected to start shipping in mid-June 2019.
